Megan is a 3rd year mechanical engineering student at UC Davis. Having just transferred from her local community college in San Mateo, CA, she is excited to be exploring a new environment however constrained it may be with virtual events. As an engineering student, Megan is fascinated with the idea of creative solutions to everyday problems. She is particularly interested in how aerospace technology can be used to change the way we approach climate change.
Following her first year at community college, Megan worked for BoostKids, a local summer program designed to introduce middle school students to computer science and engineering. As a member of the program’s administrative team during its inaugural summer, Megan enjoyed employing her passion for education and exploring ways to make the STEM field more accessible.
During her final semester in community college, Megan had the opportunity to work with a drone research team on campus working to measure the depth of snow drifts. She was a part of the data collection and equipment testing teams where she was first introduced to the idea of using aeronautic technology to assess the effects of climate change.
In her free time, Megan loves cooking and baking with her family, particularly breads and pastries. She also enjoys creating art with various mediums including drawing, painting, pottery, and digital art.
As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Megan is excited to be spending her summer working for Joby Aviation in the summer of 2021.
