Grace Graham

  • Brooke Owens Fellow, Class of 2019

  • Utah State University, Aerospace Engineering, '21

  • Host Institution: The Aerospace Corporation

  • Mentor: Stephanie Bednarek

Grace is currently a junior at Utah State University and a total space nerd majoring in Aerospace Engineering and Economics. She first learned about engineering during the summer between her junior and senior years of high school. That summer, Grace attended an engineering camp and ended up falling in love with the field. Once she had been accepted to Utah State University, she discovered the Aerospace Engineering degree and was thrilled that her love for engineering could be combined with her lifelong love for all things space.

In between graduating high school and attending Utah State University, Grace spent a year further developing the business she started with her father when she was seventeen. For her health food company called Elements: Meals for Athletes, she did extensive research into nutrition and food science, as well as overseeing customer outreach.

Grace has previously been involved with her university’s “Get Away Special” team where she helped design and developed a 1U CubeSat. She has completed research for the mechanical, structural, and simulations teams. Grace is also the founder and current president of the SEDS-USU chapter and has served for three years on USU’s Engineering Student Council where she is currently the Director of Mentorship.

As a 2019 Brooke Owens Fellow, Grace worked for The Aerospace Corporation as a Systems Engineering Intern. She has accepted an internship for the summer of 2020 at ULA in Cape Canaveral working as a Mechanical Engineering Intern.
