Devanshi is a graduating senior at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Astronomy. She is thrilled to be named a Brooke Owens Fellow for the Class of 2023 and is looking forward to spending this coming summer as an intern at SpaceX.
At school, Devanshi’s interests have led her to pursue a number of activities. From intramural volleyball, to amateur radio work, to aerospace technical projects, she has made a point to try anything and everything that she finds interesting at least once in her limited time at college.
Her greatest involvement has been in the Illinois Space Society (ISS), her university’s SEDS branch. Over the past four years, she has served on the executive board as the society’s Administrative Director, the Environmental Control and Life Support Systems Subteam Lead for the annual NASA RASC-AL competition, Co-lead of the Science Communication Team, and much much more.
Outside of school, Devanshi has pursued her interests in both industry and research. She has worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant in multiple labs, working on projects in robotics and astrodynamics. She spent the summer of 2022 as an intern at Northrop Grumman, working as a member of the STRIKE team in Palmdale, California.
Currently Devanshi is the Aerospace Engineering Department Undergraduate Lab Manager, working to maintain all of the department’s laser cutting and 3D printing facilities. She is also a member of Engineering Council on the Dean’s Student Advisory Committee, and the Secretary of Women in Aerospace.
When she is not grinding away at her schoolwork, Devanshi enjoys working on her novel, wandering around bookstores with a coffee in hand, and taking intramural volleyball a little too seriously.
