Brooke Owens Fellow, Class of 2018
Princeton University, Electrical Engineering, '20
Host Institution: Altius Space Machines
Mentor: Tory Bruno
Abby Breitfeld is a third year undergraduate at Princeton University majoring in Electrical Engineering. Her interests include autonomous space systems and robotics, as well as computer science.
As a student, Abby has been involved in planning and volunteering at Princeton’s Envision conference, which brings together speakers and participants passionate about the future of technology, such as artificial intelligence, virtual reality, and space travel. She is a previous member of Engineers without Borders. She has begun work on designing the power system for a CubeSat that will use plasma propulsion technology developed at Princeton.
As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Abby interned at Altius Space Machines in Broomfield, CO. As an intern, she designed and assembled a user interface for the MagTag satellite servicing module for demonstration at the 32nd Annual Small Satellite Conference. In addition, she programmed and designed a system to allow a robotic arm to scan QR codes and respond to the movement of a 3D stylus for use in aerospace applications.
She looks forward to wherever her career in aerospace will take her next!
