Shivani is a sophomore at Purdue University, majoring in Aerospace Engineering with a minor in Physics.
She has dreamt of working in Space Exploration for as long as she can remember. She is passionate about contributing to innovative, impactful projects and loves hands-on work. On campus, she is the Testing Team Lead of the Learning Community EPICS (Engineering Projects in Community Service). Her group is designing a manually-operated, affordable bullock-driven tractor for farmers in India to use. She is also an active member of the Purdue Space Program, through which she is helping build a rocket to launch in the NASA Student Launch Competition. Her passion for astrophysics and her fascination with outer space led her to pursue a minor in Physics. She works as a Research Assistant in the Earth, Atmosphere and Planetary Sciences department and is currently researching volcanic activity on the Lunar Surface.
Having grown up in India, Shivani developed an interest in the Global aspect of engineering, and is part of the GEARE (Global Engineering Alliance for Research and Education) program at Purdue. She hopes to use her time at college to interact with like-minded people from all over the world, and learn what it means to be an engineer in different cultures. Outside of her studies, she enjoys traveling, reading and cooking.
Shivani is so excited to be a part of the Brooke Owens class of 2025! She cannot wait to start her journey as an intern at Lockheed Martin!
