Sarine Mardirosian is a junior at Columbia University majoring in Astrophysics and minoring in Math. She understands space exploration as a collection of endeavors rooted in deeply human desires and is excited about all the possibilities it holds.
Sarine also cares deeply about the accessibility of STEM education, and throughout the past has been involved with TechTrek, a STEM camp for girls sponsored by the American Association of University Women. Additionally, she serves as a co-director of Outreach for the Columbia Space Initiative, which provides hands-on STEM education to NYC Public Schools.
Outside of schoolwork, outreach work, and doing condensed matter research, she enjoys wrestling as a part of the Columbia Women’s Wrestling Club, programming radio shows on WKCR (Columbia’s student-run, non-commercial radio station), doing improv, and practicing Armenian Folk Dance.
