Meira is a lifelong space nerd and found a love of mechanical engineering in high school robotics. While on the team, Meira was co-captain, robot technician, a member of the mechanical team, and got to compete at the world championships.
Meira is currently a second year honors mechanical engineering student with an option in robotics at Oregon State University. Meira is the mechanical lead of the DAM Robotics Mars Rover team and works on the science mechanism. Meira is an engineering education researcher and is writing a paper for a conference in June 2025. Meira also loves attending Astronomy Club and oSTEM club meetings. This past summer, Meira had a fantastic experience as an intern at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in the robotic operations group. For fun, Meira enjoys crocheting stuffed animals, reading science fiction, hiking, playing with dog Blossom, and going down research rabbit holes.
Meira dreams of landing a robotic mission on another celestial body and has interests in planetary exploration & sampling, novel space technologies (including in space assembly and repair), and test engineering. This summer, Meira is extremely excited for the opportunity to be a Brookie, and is looking forward to a fabulous summer as an actuator test engineering intern at Joby Aviation in Santa Cruz, California!
