Leah Nolan is currently pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace and Mechanical Engineering at the University at Buffalo where she will graduate in 2020. Growing up, she displayed an interest in a variety of STEM fields and decided on engineering after attending the National Grid Engineering Camp at the University at Buffalo as a junior in high school. Since, she has taken every opportunity available to develop the skills to be a successful engineer.
She became a member of the University at Buffalo Nanosatellite Laboratory (UBNL) as a freshman, where she uncovered her passion for space exploration. In her time there, she has held a variety of roles such as a Structural Engineer, Training Manager and is now a Program Manager for one of UBNL's satellites, LinkSat. She is also the secretary for the University at Buffalo Society of Women Engineers (SWE) and is a volunteer firefighter for the Jamison Road Volunteer Fire Company. In Spring 2018, Leah held an internship at 3AM Innovations in Buffalo, NY, where she worked to develop an Indoor Positioning System for firefighters.
As a Brooke Owens Fellow, Leah worked at Rocket Lab in Huntington Beach, CA as part of their Mission Management team.
