Chanel Davis is an incoming senior Aerospace Engineering student at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Prescott, Arizona. Growing up in Oceanside, California, she discovered her passion for engineering and space through hands-on projects, exploring how things worked, and gazing at the stars. Her commitment to fostering connections in STEM has flourished through her leadership in the National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE), where she led initiatives to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, including organizing impactful events like Black History Month cookouts.
Chanel’s research focuses on advancing equity for women in software engineering and introductory engineering classrooms. Her work has resulted in one publication and presentations at two national conferences, with a third upcoming. Professionally, Chanel has gained valuable experience as an Avionics Engineering Intern with United Airlines, where she supported avionics maintenance and design projects. As a Patti Grace Smith Fellow, she interned with BryceTech and is excited to return as a Brooke Owens Fellow to continue building her skills and contributing to the aerospace industry.
Outside of engineering, Chanel is an avid motorsports fan, especially Formula One, and plays rugby with her team, Prescott Black Sheep Rugby. She also enjoys trying new activities and attending concerts. Chanel looks forward to combining her engineering expertise and passion for equity to help shape the future of aerospace innovation as part of a community of trailblazing women in aerospace.
