Catherine is an aerospace engineering major at Georgia Tech, originally from Bethesda, Maryland. Growing up, they were always fascinated by outer space and the physics of the universe. When they were applying to college, they found aerospace engineering to be a perfect combination of their passion for exploring space and being able to work with their hands.
At Georgia Tech, Catherine does undergraduate research at the Planetary eXploration Lab (PXL), which focuses on astrobiology and instruments for life detection in space. They are also a student mentor at the AeroMaker Space, where they aid students with using tools and completing projects.
Additionally, they are a member of the Ramblin' Rocket Club at Georgia Tech, where they have worked mainly on the structures and integrations subteams for the club’s GNC project. Last summer, they also earned their Level 1 High Power Rocketry certification with the HPR project of the club, and are currently working on their Level 2 certification rocket.
Catherine will be graduating this spring and continuing to pursue a master’s degree in aerospace engineering under the BS/MS program at Georgia Tech. Beyond college, Catherine aspires to continue working with space technologies and tackling the challenges of exploring outer space. Outside of engineering, Catherine skates for the Yellow Jacket Roller Derby team and enjoys hiking, climbing, baking, and crocheting.
Catherine is excited to intern at Millennium Space Systems this summer as a Brooke Owens Fellow. They hope to one day inspire future generations to explore the wonders of space, regardless of how they were born or identify!
