Cat-Linh (Cat) is a senior studying Mechanical Engineering at Rice University.
She has enjoyed working on a variety of impactful engineering projects, including designing a wearable grip assistance device and creating an enrichment feeder for the black bear exhibit at the Houston Zoo. Beyond academics, some of Cat’s favorite college memories include dancing with Rice’s Vietnamese Student Association, attending the national Society of Women Engineers (SWE) conference with Rice SWE, studying with her fellow RESPies, and returning to RESP – a summer bridge program for STEM students from under-resourced backgrounds – as a Summer Fellow to mentor new matriculants.
Last summer, Cat interned at Wabtec (formerly GE Transportation) as a Quality Technical Advisor, supporting complex assemblies of parts for electric drive mining vehicles. This year, she is collaborating with her senior capstone team to design a novel rescue operation and device for incapacitated EVA crew members, in light of NASA’s future Artemis III mission.
Cat is thrilled to spend the upcoming summer as a Brooke Owens Fellow at SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA!
