“As a child, I would spend time stargazing with my dad on Maui where I grew up. Learning the rich Hawaiian history behind constellations like Maui’s Fishhook (Scorpio) ignited my wonder for the sky and the space beyond. In high school, I discovered my love of math and chemistry and decided to pursue a degree in chemical engineering.

Throughout my time at the University of Idaho, I strove to connect my talents to my passion for aerospace. I was involved in several space related projects including the National Eclipse Ballooning Project where I lead a team of students in launching weather balloons during solar eclipses to gather atmospheric data. Most recently, I had an internship with NASA at the Goddard Space Flight Center (virtual) where I analyzed this data and saw the effects of eclipses on the Planetary Boundary Layer, the tropopause, and atmospheric gravity waves.
Outside of school, I enjoy creating whether it be painting, Legos, or collages. I also try to stay as active as possible and my preferred forms of exercise are snowboarding, hiking, and surfing (when I get the chance!). Most importantly, I love spending time with my friends, family, my cat, and the Lord.

I have greatly enjoyed all the opportunities I have had, and I am excited to learn more about the aerospace field during this internship with Ursa Major and the Brooke Owens Fellowship!”
