Brookies in the World, Doing Great Things (Winter 2020 Edition)

When the Brooke Owens Fellowship ends for the current class and we all come floating back down to Earth, the Brooke Owens Fellow Alumnae continue to rock the aerospace industry and be recognized for rocking it. Here are just a few of the things that have happened with our growing cohort of young leaders in the past three months as they start new jobs, win big awards, and have fun all the way.
Leah began her internship at Moog Space and Defense!
Luc accepted a full-time position as a Space Policy Researcher at Astroscale!
Shannon accepted a full-time position at Blue Origin!
Amy transitioned to a full-time position at Boeing working on Starliner at NASA’s Kennedy Space Center, and was featured in her local newspaper!
Makiah started Active Duty in the U.S. Air Force!
Ivy is working part-time with Launcher, also teaching Engineering Design to middle school students, and started a food blog Instagram called Analog Taste!
Josefina will graduate this May and accepted an internship with Boeing and a full-time position with Maxar! She also won a President’s Leadership Award from her university!
Makena will graduate this May and accepted an internship with Virgin Orbit on the Payload Integration Team!
Morgan will send two soil microbiome experiments to space this year for her Ph.D. dissertation work! She received the Ken Souza Memorial Spaceflight Award to send one experiment on a Blue Origin rocket, and the other will be sent to the International Space Station!
Cat and Katie accepted internships at Blue Origin! Cat will be working on the Engine Manufacturing Engineering Team!
Sarah accepted an internship at NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory with the Planetary Sample Acquisition & Handling Team!
Khristian accepted an internship at The Spaceship Company!
Kaley is interning at NASA’s Johnson Space Center with the flight controllers of the electrical and power systems for the International Space Station and Orion!
Ashleigh accepted an internship at Honeywell Aerospace working on Human Factors Systems Engineering!
Caroline was recognized as a Finalist for the Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowship for New Americans!
Amy and Michelle were selected as Matthew Isakowitz Fellows, and accepted internships at Astra and Blue Origin!
Katie, Shannon, Michelle, Julia, and one of our 2020 Brookies Jane were honored as Aviation Week Network’s 20 Twenties Winners!
We couldn’t be more proud of our Brookie alumnae.
