Ever since visiting the Green Bank Observatory near her grandparents home in West Virginia, Ashleigh Bunch knew she wanted to work in the aerospace industry. Instilled with a lifelong love for all things space, she was drawn into aerospace engineering while taking a History of Space Exploration class and learning about the amazing women who were instrumental to the development and furthering of the aerospace industry. Ashleigh went on to graduate from Georgia Tech in 2020 with a degree in aerospace engineering and a psychology minor. Although she was originally drawn into aerospace by her love of the cosmos, it was her interest in human factors engineering where she found her home within the field.

During her undergraduate career, Ashleigh served as Drum Major for the Yellow Jacket Marching Band for four consecutive years. She was also a sister of the Epsilon Theta chapter of Tau Beta Sigma, the National Honorary Band Service Sorority, where she served as Vice President of Membership. Ashleigh was also a Stamps President’s Scholar and a campus tour guide.

As a 2019 Brooke Owens Fellow, Ashleigh worked on human factors design as a Systems Engineering Intern at Amazon Prime Air, Amazon’s drone delivery service. The following year she interned as a Human Factors Systems Engineer at Honeywell Aerospace, designing and testing flight deck interfaces with pilots.

Ashleigh is currently a Human Factors Engineer III at EagleView, an aerial imagery and geospatial software company based in Bellevue, WA. She is also an incoming Human-Centered Design and Engineering graduate student at the University of Washington, where she will study part-time while continuing her full-time role.

Ashleigh is forever grateful to the Brooke Owens Fellowship for not only the incredible opportunity, but also for the many relationships that have been instrumental in her career and her life.
