Brookie Mentor: TBD
Annie is a sophomore at the University of Pennsylvania majoring in Mechanical Engineering and Applied Mechanics. Her interest in aerospace began in middle school due to a love for math and space, and she hopes to pursue a career that contributes to its exploration.
At Penn, Annie participates in research, working on vacuum chamber testing of window plate designs to study their feasibility for ground-based telescopes, including the Large Aperture Telescope Receiver (LATR) at the Simons Observatory. She is also interested in thermal systems and analysis applied towards space systems. This past summer, she worked on improving the conductivity of copper thermal straps for the LATR at cryogenic temperatures. In addition to her research lab, Annie is involved on campus through various engineering clubs.
In her free time, Annie enjoys baking, lifting, running half marathons, and exploring Philadelphia. She is honored to be selected as a Brooke Owens Fellow and hopes to use her fellowship to continue paving the way for female engineers. She is looking forward to working at Iridium this summer as a Space Engineering intern!
