Andra Oltean is a third-year aerospace engineering major at the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta, GA. While she was always fascinated by sci-fi films and novels, it wasn’t until her first year in college that she became exposed to rocketry and decided to focus her studies on propulsion.
At Georgia Tech, Andra works at the Ben T. Zinn Combustion Laboratory. Her undergraduate research includes the use of advanced laser diagnostics such as TDLAS and PLIF to analyze combustion characteristics and efficiency. In addition, she operates a canonical flame burner that she constructed and acceptance tested last summer. Alongside her research, she contributes to the Yellow Jacket Space Program (YJSP), where she develops kerolox systems on both the launch fluids and engine development teams.
Previously, Andra interned at Stoke Space in Kent, WA as a propulsion intern on their second-stage engines team. This fall, she is set to return as a test engineering intern in Moses Lake, WA, where she will further her hands-on involvement in advancing cutting-edge rocket technology.
Beyond rocketry, Andra loves painting, chess, tennis, and exploring national parks across the country. Andra is very excited to join Rocket Lab on the Neutron fluids team this summer in Long Beach, CA!
